Selangor Will Introduce A Fully-Digital Parking System Starting January Next Year
Selangor is ditching the use of parking coupons or manual payments starting 31 December this year and will go forward with a fully digital parking payment system from 1 January 2022.
The state will also identify more hot zone parking areas where motorists cannot park longer than the stipulated period, FMT reported.
State local government, public transport and new village development committee chairman, Ng Sze Han said e-parking agents will be provided as an alternative for those who do not have a smartphone or the parking app.
“Currently, we have 1.5 million registered SSP application users, and by using the SSP application system we can also save a total of 634,994kg of paper,” he said at a press conference.
Ng also said that the Selangor state government would create the hot zone parking method in key areas or areas of public focus by setting a maximum time limit for each parking session.
“For example, parking in the hot zone parking bays cannot exceed two hours. This method is to provide convenience to other users to get parking spaces in busy and dense areas,” he said and that so far, Taipan USJ in Subang Jaya has been identified as a hot zone.
Ng also said hot zone parking bays will be given a more suitable and user-friendly name. It would be enforced after the amendment to the Road Transport Order (Car Parking Place Allocation) used by local state authorities in the state it was gazetted.
