6 Policemen, Including Senior Officer Arrested After Wild Drug Party in Perak
Police in Perak broke up several drug syndicates around Ipoh this week and surprisingly, it included a wild drug party involving six of their fellow officers.
State police chief Commissioner Datuk Mior Faridalathrash Wahid said that the Perak narcotics criminal investigation department arrested six policemen, eight women including three Indonesian women during a raid early this morning.
“At about 1.30am today (26 Feb), police raided an apartment in Ipoh and arrested six policemen, including a senior police officer, from the state police department and eight women. All the suspects are aged between 20 and 40,” he told a press conference at the state police headquarters, according to Malay Mail.
Mior noted that all but one policeman tested positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine consumption. However, no drugs were confiscated during the operation.
They will proceed to remand the officers and the case is being investigated under Section 15 of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952. Mior added that he has warned his officers and personnel several times not to get involved in drugs but this has fallen on deaf ears.
“(We) have warned them, but they are still involved in this activity. Beginning today, we will take more stern action against them,” he said while assuring that the officers arrested will face the full brunt of the law.
Besides that, Mior announced another 17.5kg drug find off Pangkor yesterday, estimated worth RM700,000. Police also carried out two drug busts in Taiping and Ipoh last Wednesday, with the total value of the drugs seized were RM9,077.
In addition, surveillance near Symphony Business Park led to 10 plastics of heroin drugs being seized from a 40-year-old man, weighing 4,490 grams which is worth RM157,500.
