Frequent Negative Comments Have Caused Veveonah To Take A Break From Social Media
Following the unfounded accusations made by Deputy Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Zahidi Zainul Abidin against Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) student Veveonah Mosibin, the 18-year-old has disappear from social media after getting many negative comments as a result of Zahidi’s now-retracted statement that he made in parliament that labelled her act of climbing a tree in order to get decent WiFi to sit for her online exam as fake news.

Zahidi had previously claimed that the stunt was only to gain attention from the public, leaving Veveonah dismayed and disappointed as she had worked hard for her online examinations for the last few months as reported in The Malay Mail.
Merujuk kepada perbahasan di Dewan Negara hari ini, saya ingin membetulkan kenyataan mengenai adik Veveonah Mosibin…

Although Zahidi had apologised to her in a Facebook post upon realising the mistake, damage had already been done. According to The Star, Veveonah is not one to handle negative comments and has not been able to be contacted by phone. Her last upload on YouTube was 6 days ago whereas her last Instagram update was 3 days ago where she released an IGTV video about her exam scheduled.
To clear the air, she explained in-depth about her exam schedule including the subjects that she was going to sit for along with the dates. She also stated that she had uploaded the video of her climbing a tree to get some connectivity to do her exam on Saturday (13 June), a day after her exam.
Veveonah also highlighted that this incident had not just affected her but her batchmates as well who had also worked hard but faced the same problem with poor internet connectivity.
The internet can be a harsh place at times, with many voices and opinions of people who don’t even know you but assume they know what’s best for you. We hope Veveonah will take this time off to reflect and return stronger and with a clear mind soon.
