WATCH: Scorpion Gets His Revenge In A New Mortal Kombat Animated Movie
28 years of blood, sweat and guts – lots of em, Mortal Kombat remains as one of the most popular games today. We’ve seen some MK stuff on different mediums like the 90s film but those were pretty horrible IMO.
The people wanted still want a Mortal Kombat film or series but it keeps failing. However, I think they’ve found the perfect way to tell their stories, which is with animation.
IGN exclusively debuted the first trailer for Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion’s Revenge from Warner Bros. The animated film will focus on the tragic origin of our favourite yellow ninja, and the world of the violent tournament.
Check out the trailer:
You can see other characters from Earthrealm and Outworld, like Liu Kang, Lord Raiden, Sub Zero, Sonya Blade, Johnny Cage, Shang Tsung, Quan Chi and Goro, among others. According to IGN, the film will loosely follow and expand on the story of Mortal Kombat 9.
Personally, it looks sick. There are so many things they can do with animation. You can go over the top and who cares, it’s a cartoon! I also love the look of the film, it’s reminiscent of early 2000s shows like He-Man.
ICYMI, a live-action Mortal Kombat film is also coming in 2021, but that’s for another time.
Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion’s Revenge will be available on BluRay Spring 2020.
