4-Year-Old Indonesian Boy Falls From 35th Floor Of Ampang Condominium Where Mother Was Working
Landing an honest job is one thing, but being able to balance it with one’s social and home life is another matter altogether.
One Indonesian mother working as a part time cleaner was tending to her duties at a house located on the 35th floor of Boulevard Condominium in Pandan Perdana when her 4-year-old child, who she presumed was asleep in the living room, had fallen to his death from the balcony.
According to the police report, the deceased, who is the youngest among 3 siblings, was believed to have woken up and unlocked the sliding door leading to the balcony where he proceeded to climb onto a chair that was there.
The 36-year-old mother headed downstairs, leaving the child for mere minutes to deliver clothes to the launderette and noticed something was amiss when she saw people crowding the ground floor area where her son lay dead.
The incident occurred around 2.20 pm, while the boy’s father was at work in Petaling Jaya. Both parents have been residing in Malaysia for the past 5 years.
It has also been confirmed that the deceased’s remains have been sent to Canselor Tuanku Muhriz Hospital for the post-mortem examination.
The case is currently being investigated under Section 31(1) of the Child Act, 2001 for negligence. No arrests have been made so far; however, the parents, if convicted of the crime, may face imprisonment for less than 10 years or a fine not surpassing RM20,000, or both.
In the police statement, Ampang Jaya district police chief Farouk Eshak also advised the public to supervise their children at all times and shield them from potential risks.
