+2dB’s ‘Get Lucky/Doin’ It Right’: Doing a Cover Right

Because the Daft Punk hype has yet to die down (deservedly), +2dB recently released their cover/mashup of Daft Punk’s ‘Get Lucky’ and ‘Doin’ It Right’. Lest you think this is just the girls singing over the original instrumentals, it’s a total reworking of the 2 tracks as filtered through their own musical sensibilities. Here, the disco throwbacks are turned fittingly sombre, a tonal shift that fits better than you think it would. Despite being a cover, this might just be their best track thus far — mixed better, properly mastered, and pitch perfect execution.
