1MDB and Jho Low Uncovered in Netflix’s Upcoming ‘Man on the Run’ Documentary
By now, the story of the 1MDB scandal, which involves Jho Low, and former Prime Minister Najib Razak is already cemented in Malaysian history.
Netflix is set to release their film on the events of this scandal with Man On The Run, a feature-length documentary by Cassius Michael Kim.
The film uncovers the shocking true story of a corrupt group of co-conspirators whose influence extended from the highest levels of the Malaysian government to Hollywood
Man on the Run follows the enigmatic Low Taek Jho, known to most as Jho Low, a mysterious businessman and playboy.
Working with former Prime Minister Najib Razak, Low orchestrated a scheme to exploit 1MDB, a sovereign wealth fund established in 2009 to benefit the people of Malaysia.
In 2015, journalist Clare Rewcastle-Brown set off a global investigation that uncovered the staggering amount of money that fueled Low’s extravagant lifestyle.
This included acquiring lavish properties, a private jet, a superyacht, and paying to party with A-list celebrities like Leonardo DiCaprio and Kim Kardashian.
Dubbed the “Asian Great Gatsby,” Low even financed Martin Scorcese’s controversial Oscar-nominated blockbuster, The Wolf of Wall Street.
Through director Cassius Michael Kim’s unprecedented access to key individuals involved on both sides of the story, and gripping first-person accounts, Man on the Run exposes a complex web of greed and corruption.
Currently jailed former Prime Minister Najib Razak, 1MDB whistleblower Xavier André Justo, and journalist Clare Rewcastle Brown who broke the story, are featured in the film.
Kim’s meticulous investigation bears the extensive repercussions of one of the most colossal financial scandals in history.
