The last word in clubbing.
If there’s one club that needs no introduction then Zouk is it. The proverbial heart of the entire 5 club complex and the address for KL’s clubbers, this is Zouk’s big room for big sounds and even bigger events.

Split over 2 levels, downstairs 3 lounges and a bar surround the dancefloor and DJ console; upstairs 2 bars (including one for members) and a VIP room overlook the action. Wherever you pitch camp, here the DJs are gods and clubbers worship at their sonic alters. The world’s best cratediggers, spindoctors and the club’s own ressies continue to demonstrate why Zouk has been consistently voted the #1 clubbing venue in the country, and that music quality is only matched by the sound and light show. Mapped out on the LED walls and plasma screens overhead lighting designer Sebastian Jurkowski’s (MIX Paris) main motivation seems to sear a permanent impression on your retinas.

Clientele If the 90s was about The Backroom and Movement, then Zouk is where post millenial clubbers earn their stripes. It’s different types on different nights, as the tribes change in tandem with the DJs on deck and the music blasting from the bassbins.

Drinks Standard club sustenance. It’s 50% off between 10pm and 12nn on beer and spirits; glasses, jugs but no bottles on all other nights, 1-for-1 all night on Thursdays. On Tuesdays, the bartender lines ’em up for the ladies. It’s 5 complimentary drinks in all. Get yourself signed up as a member or join Zouk and its nights’ Facebook groups for discounts.

Eats None here. Go get your tucker at Relish @ The Terrace Bar outside near the entrance instead. They run a full menu.

Music policy The spiritual home of EDM, from trance to nu rave, minimal to techno, breaks to full blown electro, Zouk has got it covered. Scan DJ mag’s Top 100 DJs and Zouk have seen 1/3 of them, and they’re probably working on the other 2/3 as you read this. Beyond the obvious they’ve also seen Grandmaster Flash, Jazzy Jeff, Lovefoxxx, Shitdisco and many other cutting edge types. That should give you a keen idea of the kind of quality and variety we’re talking here.

Open Tue+Thu-Sat. 10pm-2am weekdays, 10pm-3am weekends. Tue sees KL’s longest running hip hop and R & B night, Ghetto Heaven throws a block party with ressies Luqe and Ray Rox. Thu sees celeb DJ Goldfish and Luqe lock it in with more urban sounds for 4Play. On Fri Shazz, Terence and Fono go Global with upfront EDM. The electronic tunage continues on Sat when Leonard T switches on the sounds of electro and house for Fuze.

Cover On Tue ladies + students wt. international student ID walk in free bef. 12mn, otherwise it’s RM18 inc. 1 drink. Thu-Sat it’s RM28 ladies, RM38 men, inc. 1 drink. Get yourself signed up as a member, or join Zouk and its nights’ Facebook groups for free entry.

Door policy Guys have got to be 23 years and above, girls have got to be 21 years and above. And they check ID – so bring it.

Dress code Sexy/smart for hip hop and R & B, crazh cool for EDM. As a rule, no round collar tees, sports jerseys, shorts, slippers, dark shades and baseball caps. In short, don’t look like a jock/gangsta/beach bum/junkie/racer boy.

Parking JUICE usually parks across the road either next to the Chinese school or the entrance to the Jalan Ampang Cemetery. It’s a little like buying real estate as parking runs from RM5 weekdays to RM10 weekends. If you’re flashing your horsepower or your Christian Louboutin heels, you might want to jockey it. It’s RM20.
