Wu-Tang Returns To The Chamber
On 30 June, hip hop soldiers Wu-Tang Clan’s new project of Chamber Music will be released on E1 Music. The album will feature RZA, Ghostface Killah, Inspectah Deck, U-God, Killah Priest and a whole lot more. This project will see the Clan MCs pairing with classic 90’s rap veterans such as AZ, Havoc of Mobb Deep, Cormega, Kool G Rap, Masta Ace, Sadat X of Brand Nubian and Sean Price of Heltah Skeltah with RZA taking charge as Executive Producer. JUICE has a feeling this is going to be fi-yah!
This is what hardcore Wu-Tang fans have been waiting for and JUICE is psyched about this end of the month release too. It is a throwback sound of classic soul and kung fu imagery, which is what we made Wu-Tang what they are. Chamber Music will also feature beats and live sets by Brooklyn soul band The Revelations with that new 2009 twist.
RZA explains the records’ homage to Wu’s early sound, “In the old days, we had to sample and find snares and things like that or chord changes just to make a beat. Now, this is being done with a band. A lot of times, you hear rappers over a live band and that loses the hip-hop because a lot of those bands from the old days wasn’t from the hip-hop generation. On this album, we make it sound like it was in the 36 Chambers era.”
Check out the album’s first focus track ‘Harbor Master’ which features Ghostface, AZ and Inspectah Deck bringing back the dope element here. Also check out ‘Ill Figures’ featuring RZA, Raekwon and Kool G Rap over here.
We can’t wait to hear the full album and hopefully with this return, they are about to reach out to the new hip hop fans who thinks Flo-Rida or Souljah Boy is hip hop. Wu-Tang Clan needs to school the new generation! Wu-Tang forever!
