World’s First Carbon Reduction Label
What does that even mean? UK shoppers will be able to examine the carbon footprint of the clothes they buy for the first time, thanks to the launch of the world’s first carbon reduction label for textiles. This initiative was started by Continental Clothing, a London-based organic apparel company in partnership with the Carbon Trust. The new label will state the amount of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases that were produced as a result of the clothing item’s production, distribution, use and disposal. Want an example? Read on!
The label, which will be displayed on a range of printed tees and sweatshirts, will include steps consumers can take to reduce the item’s carbon footprint, such as choosing the cold setting on their washers and avoiding tumble drying.
