Seaside in the city….
Once a “Work In Progress” now “Whipped Into Place”, WIP’s sprawling corner lot lends itself to this bar-restaurant’s resort ambience. Inspired by white washed seaside escapes like Nice and Santorini and designed by Ed Poole & Associates, WIP is part of the same F & B group as Souled Out and 7atenine. Loosely divided into dining area, bar area and partially covered alfresco area, with ample room to spare for burbling water features, fountains and lots of inviting white sofas, it can accommodate over 200 people including 20 at its clam bar, which is designed to start conversations, and not just because of the way it looks. From here mixologists bar flare up some mighty mean cocktails like the house’s signature mojitos and sangria – arguably the best in KL,  and the food, inspired by the sea makes for a suitable companion. With the languid rhythms of bossa, Latin jazz and house music filling the air, WIP has become an oasis of escape for Bangsar barflies.

Clientele Teeming with young urban professionals and expatriates. Yes, teeming. Despite the multitude of offerings in BSC if you plan on taking root here in the evenings we suggest you make reservations.

Music policy The more supine sounds of bossa, Latin jazz and chillhouse fill the hot humid air by day, that doesn’t stop veteran DJ Nicky C from heating it up and taking it higher into the realms of Latin and retro house when the sun sinks beyond the horizon. Saturday gives way to RnB and disco house.

Drinks The drinks or “guzzle” menu is as inclusive as it is exhilarating and sacrifices no quality for the quantity of offerings listed. Among the house’s signature brews are an ensemble of 20 Mojitos and Sangrias in three varieties (white, rose and red), the latter offered by the glass and by the bottle and by far JUICE’s favourite Sangria in KL. Heineken is RM14/RM22 a pint, Tiger RM12/RM20 a pint, and Guinness (RM17/RM24), Kilkenny (RM19/RM27) and Strongbow (RM18/RM28) are on tap.

Happy Hours Mon-Sun: 12nn-8pm. Mojito Mojos go for RM19++. On Sundays ask about their Snazzy Deals. After 10pm it’s 25% off on housepours liqours, draught beers and selected snacks and 50% off your second classic mojito. Salut!

Eats Inspired by the sea and the cuisine of coastal regions from various different continents the “gobble” menu is an eclectic mix of modern European, Mediterranean and spicy Northern Indian dishes with a touch of Asian flavours. Of these the lighter dishes like the salads are the most successful, a perfect balance of light, fresh and delicious. Try the Avocado Mango Salad (RM22).

Dress code Easy does it.

Door policy None.

Open Mon-Sun: 12nn-2am.

Parking Mon-Sun: RM1.60/hour; Touch n Go RM1.76/hour.
