Win Invites to Tiger Translate @ APW Bangsar
This year’s Tiger Translate will see a bill of acts from the UK and the region, merging both music and art together to create a fully immersive experience to — as they say — uncage your senses. This year’s edition will see acts coming from the same countries as the previous instalment; there’s the UK’s garage rock duo Blood Red Shoes, and then there are the twee indie pop rockers of Hong Kong’s My Little Airport and Taiwan’s Wonfu. Despite the latter two sharing the same genre denomination, both of the bands couldn’t be more different — My Little Airport has a penchant for extensive, quirky song titles such as ‘gigi leung is dead’ and ‘tim, do you really wanna make a film?’, while the mod-outfitted kitschy quartet of Wonfu has been dubbed as Taiwan’s cultural export. Furthermore, KL’s own noise pop band They Will Kill Us All and indie dance DJ crew Twilight Actiongirl will round out the bill of music performances. To complement the sonic experience, visual works from a slew of international and regional artists like Parent’s Parents (HK), Rukkit Kuanhawate (TH), and Tim Exile (UK) — and Louise Low, Andrew T-Crum, Nicholas Choong, Lightforge from Malaysia — will heighten your experience at the event with their brand of urban art.
