Win a Pair of Tickets to Raising The Bar Festival ’16

In less than three weeks, the second edition of Raising The Bar Festival will begin, and we for one are excited for the slew of international, regional, and local acts that are expected to perform. To refresh your memory of the upcoming international performers; you can expect rapper Heems (formerly of Das Racist) and producer B. Bravo from the States, and newly announced addition to the international lineup French producer Onra, who will be giving a lecture and performance in partnership with Red Bull Music Academy.

Regionally, from Singapore, keep an eye out for much talked about rapper Mean who’s just released his album NSFW to favourable reviews. Also, there’s the magnetic despondency of multigenred F ∆ U X E, who will be performing alongside old school hip hop-indebted crew MHC. Then, Hong Kong is represented by grimy MC Young Queenz, and South Korea brings us Okasian — the rapper who Dazed and Confused has dubbed to be “[pushing] Korean hip hop forward.”

On the local front, there’s of course some very recognisable names in the scene such as Joe Flizzow and Kartel’s freshest prince SonaOne. There’s also Kayda, who currently has the number one song on local radio called ‘Sugar’, produced by none other than Emir Hermono who himself will make an appearance at the festival. Furthermore, there’s jazz hop band Bassment Syndicate, DJ-rapper Arabryd, Indiego & Co., ambient electronica musician Dae Kim, and talented young’uns from the HOAX crew, ZSYIA and Orang Malaya, among many others.

January has shaped up to be the month of festivals, so make sure you attend this, otherwise you’d be suffering from a severe case of FOMO.
