If you find yourself much more attuned to flailing blithely about to catchy, upbeat pop tunes than basking in the languid reggae acoustic dad rock by way of Norwegian band Erlend Øye and The Rainbows, then next up on Upfront‘s list, the Australian indie band The Jungle Giants will satiate that urge to break into a dance. The band has opened for bigger acts who share a common thread with them music-wise such as Two Door Cinema Club and Last Dinosaurs, both of whom have coincidentally played on our turf as well. Now it’s their time to take the limelight. Even though these bunch of twentysomethings are all about fun, which evidently comes across in their music, frontman Sam Hales does — however — take great care on the matter of songwriting, enough to have won an award for it! So when you’re grooving out to their infectious beats, be sure to really listen to the words as well.
