If for whatever reason you missed the times when Erlend Øye came down on two occasions as two of his separate musical entities, Kings Of Convenience and (the now defunct) The Whitest Boy Alive, you should definitely check him and his band the Rainbows this time around. Who knows when he’ll be back again under a different name/band! If you gravitate more towards his Kings of Convenience side, the gentle acoustic duo he formed with Eirik Glambek Bøe, then you’ll ease into the reggae-imbued sound of his latest musical project just fine — you might even come to love the Nordics’ take on mellow island rock.
