Here’s Why AI Can Never Replace Us

There’s been a lot of anxiety in the air recently with all the talk of AI, and naturally, some of us feel a bit worried about our jobs and the future. And who can blame us?

Looking at pop culture, AI-gone-wrong movies have been popular since 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968) and continue to be a trope with M3GAN 2.0 coming out this year.

But even when we’re not letting our imaginations go wild (which is one of the reasons why AI can’t compete with us), there is always the looming threat of job loss from disruptive technology. Just think of all the industrial revolutions and professions that went extinct with them.

It’s going to be a period of adjustment, but as with all new tech, new jobs will also emerge. While we can’t hold back progress because both consumers and businesses will ultimately choose the most efficient solutions, we shouldn’t be afraid of AI completely replacing us, especially if you are adaptive and can incorporate AI skills into your profession.

If you need more reassurance beyond the short term, here are five reasons why AI will never replace humans…

There is no limit to the human imagination

Humans are stupid. Literally stupid sentient beings who can at times pull off miracles under pressure with the help of a bit of adrenaline.

We could get intoxicated and wake up with a new genre of art. We could retaliate with something random that could break computer-programmed models. And we can make fart jokes that aren’t lame.

Above all, we do not talk as though we were programmed in a lab (unless you’re counting sheeple).

It is too costly to use AI to do certain jobs (AI has no arms nor legs)

AI has been taking over everything lately from content creation to formulating perfumes. But until we see an AI that can fix our toilet flush, we shouldn’t worry about robots coming to kill us.

While AI can do an array of tasks related to white collar jobs, it’s highly likely you’ll still need to hire a handyman/woman to fix your house. There is an episode of South Park that illustrates this point to the tee.

So don’t just trust me, trust the creators of South Park ‘cause they know everything, dammit.

The final call needs to be made by a human who can spot the nuances

Amazon once used A.I. for hiring, but it accidentally discriminated against women because it learned biases from past hiring data.

A.I. can hallucinate information (like making up fake legal cases in court—yes, this actually happened).

A study found that AI-generated content is 40% more likely to have factual errors than human-written content.

So are you still going to trust AI? The answer is yes, because apart from the rest of this article which was written by me, those last three facts were generated by ChatGPT (and I didn’t fact check ‘em ‘cause I’m a lazy human).

No one wants a sentient AI who can boss us around

You know what’s worse than a human boss who’s wrong half the time? A robot boss that’s right all the time!

Like, who needs that? Seriously. The 1% of the 1% (AKA our extraterrestrial reptilian overlords) would never allow that.

The economy will collapse if no one gets paid

Above all, this is the main reason why AI can never replace humans.

Humans NEED to be paid for the economy to work. If we are not paid, we cannot buy stupid worthless junk.

Without worldly distractions, humans would be forced to look into themselves and realise our fallacy as a society that chases after the buck.

This would lead to the collapse of the World Order and the start of the Mecha-Human wars.

So yes, we will get paid one way or another because we need to remain as we have always been – consumers.
