It was a dream come true for hundreds of Malaysian football fans who flocked to Sunway Pyramid to catch a glimpse of the UEFA Euro 2012 Trophy. But little did they know that one of the best keepers to have ever graced the field was going to make a visit.

The glorious sterling silver trophy was displayed just outside of the mall, in a football stadium replica created by Carlsberg Malaysia. Fans went crazy for this opportunity to take photos with the trophy because Malaysia was the second and only other country besides India to host the trophy in Asia. The trophy for UEFA Euro 2012 has been named the Henri Delaunay Trophy and is an updated version f the one presented to Spain for winning the UEFA Euro 2008. The craziness of fans in the mini stadium replica blew the roof off when legendary Danish goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel came in to give a few words.

Voted time and time again as the best goalkeeper in football history, the retired Manchester United keeper was visiting as Carlsberg’s global ambassador for UEFA Euro 2012. Poetic enough, considering he was named the Man of the Match during the UEFA Euro 1992 that saw his national team, Denmark (also Carlsberg’s home country) beating Germany to take home the trophy.

It’s been quite the lead up to the coming Euro tournament, and it’s going to be more awesome for Carlsberg drinkers as the date gets closer. As part of their Are You Fan Enough? consumer promotion, Carlsberg will be sending 100 lucky winners on an all-expense paid trip to catch the semi-finals live in Ukraine.

If you want to be one of the lucky 100 to fly to Ukraine, check out www.carlsberg.com.my or facebook.com/Carlsberg.MY for more information. Check out the photos of the event here.
