Not only is he signed to Boysnoize Records, Strip Steve is indeed a sly ’90s kid who managed to swing by Zouk KL as part of his tour. We know the kid is doing something right when at such a young age, he’s already gallivanting around the world, shaking it up club after club.

For this particular night we had Malaysia’s very own B.A.T.E, Jee Hoe, and Terrence C lined up to really kick the weekend off to a killer start. You can’t help but feel secondhand nervousness when you know the main act a fresh young talent about to make his first KL performance, within the walls of Zouk’s main room.  But the way Steve managed to pull off an extremely nonchalant look throughout his first few minutes was straight up impressive.

You could tell through a glimpse that he was quite driven to give his A-game in order to show off what he’s done to make the set his own. The set consisted of many genres of music and different influences melted into one style. It was the sort of style that would meet the expectations of a DJ that would be highly ranked in the future.

Although the club was not as packed as you would anticipate, Strip Steve still continued giving the performance his all. But somehow you could sense his enthusiasm deteriorating, could’ve been the damp and drizzly night or maybe his unique sound was too far from commercial, crowds weren’t sure how to relate and get with the atmosphere he was giving off. Throughout the night, the crowd may have not expanded, but the champs who did manage to catch his set, were more than motivated to feed off his vibe and just move closer and closer towards the speakers and Strip Steve himself.

All in all, Steve put up a show of quality that those who attended appreciated. Not only is he a talented young man, who might be on his way to becoming a jetsetting artist, but he sure plays the part of a confident DJ that’s prepared for the world to soak in his music.

Hopefully that wasn’t his first and last show down here in KL, we hope to have him returning to the decks in KL sometime in the near future!
