Who says talent contest don’t take you anywhere? Just a few months after last year’s opening slot at the Glastonbury Pyramid Stage, WHB have a self-titled debut album. And it’s a fire starter for the ex-EMI employees.

Standing somewhere between the Bloc Party’s lush melodies, Radiohead’s dark confusion, Hot Chip’s dizzy techno, psych and more UK dance influences, the album is as ambiguous as their silly name but tied together with the resounding beat of a hardworking band currently on high spirits. Disposable idols and former X-Factors should take note.
