There Are 40,000 Ways To Watch Netflix’s Kaleidoscope, But What’s The Best Order To Watch It In?
Kaleidoscope, Netflix’s latest series, is all anyone can talk about as it climbs the charts to be #4 on Malaysia’s Top 10 Shows of The Week, on its first week of release.
To preface, Kaleidoscope is Netflix’s experiment with non-linear storytelling. Although it’s not the first of its kind – we all remember the headlines about Bandersnatch, which is Black Mirror’s spinoff – it’s definitely a suspense-filled experience that you can binge in one nail-biting sitting.
Without giving away too much, the story is a heist that has been cooking for many years and follows your usual themes of old grudges, team assembly, betrayal, and dark back stories.
The ‘choose your adventure’ feature for this show allows you to pick whichever order your heart desires, and it actually works! With each episode, it starts with their own timeline and where it falls pertaining to the heist. So you know right off the bat where you’re placed before you get into the plot.
But with so many combinations and permutations of how one could choose their viewing experience, it’s got you wondering – is there a best way to watch it?
Netflix’s Twitter account actually released four different orders to watch it in:

But here’s some added orders I thought of after watching Kaleidoscope last night. Keep in mind that you’d always have to watch ‘Black’ first, as Netflix has designed it to explain the show for the best viewing experience:

- Orange – 3 weeks before the heist
- Yellow – 6 weeks before the heist
- Green – 7 years before the heist
- Blue – 5 days before the heist
- Pink – 6 months after the heist
- Violet – 24 years before the heist
- White – the heist

And there you go! Obviously, you can completely randomise the episodes and it would still make sense. But these are just some of the options I can think of. My personal favourite would be The Nail Biter.
But either way, feel free to go back and rewatch the show in all of these orders if you’d like, or if you have that kind of time.
