How perfect was it that Jacob Dilssner’s – better known as Wankelmut to dance fans – rise to popularity began on his 24th birthday back in December ’11, when he gave Asaf Avidan’s ‘Reckoning Song (One Day)’ a bootleg remix? That ish went double platinum in Germany and made it to multiple single charts in Europe. The deep house and techno luminary – as European DJ-producers are wont to be – has since earned other recognitions from the industry (i.e. awarded the Newcomer of the Year title by GROOVE) and remixed anyone from Hozier and Lenny Kravitz to Röyksopp and Flight Facilities. To validate his status as an artiste in his own right as opposed to just a remixer, his 2013 single with Emma Louise, ‘My Head is a Jungle’, received its own reworking courtesy of MK the year after, which earned them more than 5 million views on YouTube.
