VIDEO: Travis Bickle’s “Thank God For The Rain” Monologue
To the uninitiated, Travis Bickle is the lonely and depressed taxi driver played by Robert De Niro in Taxi Driver. Bickle frequently writes in his diary and here is one of the most famous monologues he delivered in the film as he recounted the nocturnal crimes and general perverse activities that disgust him as he rode around NYC in his cab. Piotr Kabat has made an animation as an homage to the film in stark black and red colouring, making De Niro’s delivery of the monologue all the more resonant; “Some day, a real rain will come and wash all this scum off the streets.”
