When Parkway Drive released the first single off of their forthcoming album Ire and it sounded like an anthem for teenyboppers, we grew concerned that the rest of the album would be going in the same direction — fortunately, ‘Crushed’ crushed (yes, we did that) all our worries. The song is heavy on drums, guitar riffs, and Winston’s beast-like vocals and serves as a melodious reminder of the world we live in where human beings live for power, greed, and hypocrisy (“Can you seek a higher truth, when you’re living on your knees?”). The music video is bound to send a few Illuminati-enthusiasts through the Bermuda triangle with its inclusion of biblical imagery and symbolism. Though that’s what metal is about. Good job, boys.
