Molek FMVIDEO: Hot Chip’s ‘Dancing in the Dark’

We’ve always seen countless blurry fan videos on YouTube where Hot Chip would cover Bruce Springsteen’s ‘Dancing in the Dark‘. Finally, the band have the decency to properly record their cover of it, along with the addition of LCD Soundsystem’s ‘All My Friends‘ peeking through the bridge of the song. The seven-minute long video is a pastiche of retrograde advertisements, daytime interviews, and just general television content featuring the people of that era to bemuse us all, along with the band’s live performance. Of course, Alexis Taylor’s delicate voice stands in stark contrast to Springsteen’s own vigorous huskiness. Hot Chip’s version transforms the classic song into a sweetly dance pop track that manages to steady itself among the rapid pace of the new arrangement. This cover will appear on a four-track titular EP which also features Soulwave’s rendition of ‘Huarache Lights’.
