The first music video off Flying Lotus’ highly-anticipated LP, You’re Dead!, starts off morbid; a sombre wake for two children that begins with a focus on the understandably forlornly stoic guests. But FlyLo’s fifth album’s central thesis isn’t death as the morbid end of existence — it’s more celebratory than that, the end is the next step to a newer experience. Naturally, the formerly deceased kids did exactly what the word for such a ceremony would mean in its livelier definition — they wake up, and start dancing their asses off like it were a broadway Styx before running away from the funeral home. To borrow Kendrick’s lyrics, “You will never ever catch me, no, no, no.”

You’re Dead! is set for a Tuesday 7 October ’14 release via Warp.
