If we’re going to be completely honest, this track sounds like any other boring Top 40 pop-ish track. The formula is there — four chords, decently catchy chorus, somewhat attractive male singing it. But the lyrical content of this track is something which catches us off guard, especially Macklemore’s verses about dealing with his newfound fame (wait, this is a trope every recently famous rapper would explore…). If you can get past the superficial aspect of the song, you might find something in it for you. Somehow though, it just feels as if Big Mack is doing his friend a favour and trying to elevate him to the next level with this one, but we’re not complaining – that’s what friends are for.
