VIDEO: Facebook’s ‘2015 Year In Review’

We’re three weeks away from welcoming 2016, so a roundup of this year is in order. Facebook highlights the most viral or talked about posts on its platform and compresses them into a 2-minute long video. It includes everything from the ‘Black Lives Matter’ movement, to the terrorist attacks in Paris, to the passing of Lee Kuan Yew. The beginning is mostly world news-related, which is a little upsetting to relive as these events serve as a reminder of the trying times the world had endured over the past 12 months, but it gets better and more optimistic towards the end. Mentions of scientists discovering water on Mars, the Mayweather vs. Pacquiao fight, and a few of Hollywood’s most critically acclaimed films such as Mad Max: Fury Road and also not so well-received but just as hyped titles like Jurassic World and Straight Outta Compton. The funniest moment from the recap is definitely the still of the unexpected death on Game of Thrones — if you’re a diehard GoT fan, then we’d totally understand how that was like rubbing salt in the wound. The video wraps up by reminding us of the unity we formed during times of trouble and how we should continue to stand together in the coming year. Always a sentimental lesson to be learnt on Facebook. Now for Jin Hackman’s roundup…
