Look! Up in the sky! It’s a bird, it’s a plane… well, sort of. It’s a flying drone — a flying drone watching you bone. Filmmakers Brandon LaGanke and John Carlucci of Ghost+Cow Films bring a whole new genre to music videos with their latest viral film Drone Boning, featuring the feel-good song ‘The Kink’ by Taggart and Rosewood. Many may not be too familiar with the concept of Drone Boning but it simply means drones watching you bone. The voyeuristic video pans into breathtaking aerial shots of vineyards, hills, forests, and suddenly plot twist! Naked people banging in the background. It doesn’t get bolder than that. That, and the lingering sense of awkwardness that comes with watching people doing it from sky high. One of the directors mentioned that “… wouldn’t it be funny to have these simplistic, beautiful landscapes, and have people fucking in them.” Indeed, but what started off as a cheeky commentary on NSFW and issues on privacy has achieved global attention as a conceptual music video that puts Nicki Minaj’s ‘Anaconda’ to shame.

As potent as the video is conceptually though, it would be a wise decision to keep your eyes out for more from Taggart and Rosewood, a duo comprising Zach Coulter (Solid Gold) and Ryan Olson (Polica), both founding members of Gayngs, with Jim Eno (Spoon) on drums. Reason being that their music is poetically crafted with the aid of an “Emotiv EEG to USB brain computer interface through the Logic MIDI bridge”. A whole load of science gobbledygook, but it really just means that the music they make consists of the recorded synapses of the pair’s brains under the influence of DMT. Talk about being unique.
