VIDEO: Dan Britt’s I’m Dead Inside
In Dan Britt’s latest depressive short, an illustrated man starts his morning by having a bowl of cereal, checking his mail, and calling what appears to be an escort (hey, the name on the card read “local chix”). They make arrangements to meet at a bus stop, the conversation between the two seems hopeful but due to being detached from his own emotions, he bids adieu to the pretty girl to read poems on a bus ride to a zoo instead. This is what happens when a person is dead inside – everything they participate in seems a lot less interesting even when it shouldn’t be. At the zoo, he follows a lion whom then leads him into ‘The Void’, which is where his boring daily routine changes its course and becomes bloody interesting in a literal sense.
