We saw Ali Aiman covering +2dB’s ‘Islands’ off their debut EP + live before, and with a full backing band to boot. As much of a fan we were of that version, it turns out a more minimalistic take on the cover works far better. Recently performed on Fly FM’s Stripped, Ali — equipped with just his keyboard — delivers the rearranged jazzy cover of ‘Islands’ without superfluous embellishments, reminding us of Chet Faker at certain points and also of Ali’s own music on record. We’d kill to hear what he can cook up with a studio version of the song.
