American rock opera duo Tenacious D, the band behind the album Rize of the Fenix as well as feature film Tenacious D in the Pick of Destiny, are bringing their bromedy and swift musical digits to the second Urbanscapes Satellite Show this year. Their classic western rock‘n’roll tunes are as full of dopey humour as they are musical integrity — think Meat Loaf had he been more self-aware. After all, Jack Black was the star of School of Rock, the defining musical comedy all you early noughties kids probably grew up to, and he makes up one half of the band. Famous for their comical lyrics that paint vivid tales and their affinity for making crude words sound delightful (see ‘Fuck Her Gently‘), Tenacious D is sure to give the sterile environs of our local festivals and concerts some edge.
