Twinkies
On a whim one night, JUICE decided to hop over to Cloth & Clef to check out Twinkies. We only intended to stay a short while but ended up staying all night. Arafah a.k.a. Arabyrd and her friend Nadia rocks out the cute toys, colours and hot music for your booty.
The girls are making waves with their brand of eclectic sounds of pop, electro to hip hop, having played at numerous events including My Kinky Valentine at Barsonic, monthly events at Cloth & Cleft and Mardi Gras at Panghan Sunset. We cornered them for a tete-a-tete.
How did Twinkies come about?
Entertaining friends and parents at home while exploring and sharing music we dig since 2005 played a big part on our decision to share the fun with KL. Bonding by orchestrating our little ‘shows’ at home made us decide that we could build our Twinkies playground for everyone – toys and a good time in tow.
Why the name and what’s the concept?
Random. Our passion for mood lights says a lot about our mutual fascination with stars and auroras. We bring out the kid in everyone! Toys, bubbles, cotton candy and sick tunes are always available at the Twinkies playground.
How would you set the ultimate Twinkies event?
Silent disco, underwater, Twinkies toys, rubber duckies, and synchronized swimming! Keep it wet and durrrrteehhh!
What do you think twinkles the most?
Our fingers – Start observing!
No website for Twinkies yet, but you can check Arabyrd out at www.myspace.com/arabyrd .
