Former Prime Minister of Malaysia Tun Dr Mahathir recently announced his backing for a certain business owner, and its got a “fighting” chance.

17-year-old Cheng Jia Yung from Ipoh tweeted about his brother’s business to promote sales and asked if any netizens would be interested in purchasing Betta fish, also known as Siamese fighting fish.

He then received a text from a buyer in Langkawi who further revealed that it was none other than Tun M who will be receiving the fish, and was in disbelief of the recognition he got.

JUICE had a quick chat with the young business promoter and here’s what he had to say:

“I’m just a promoter, my brother (Cheng Jia Ler) breeds all the fish himself. We actually only do it for fun. Then one day he told me there were a lot of fish in the backyard and proposed to start selling them.”

They received 8 orders on the first day they were open for business. This number slowly started decreasing but Jia Yung persevered and kept promoting online. Soon enough, someone from the Ahli Jawatankuasa (AJK) Langkawi office took notice and reached out to him.

He then wrote a letter to the former Prime Minister, stating his gratefulness and commended Tun M’s efforts in building the country.

“In the letter, I said thanks for building KLCC, Sepang race track, Putrajaya, modernising Langkawi, and how he helped improve the country’s economy.”

Tun M then responded to this with a video:

If you’d like to purchase a few Bettas of your own, you can contact the sellers here.
