Tudor Adds a Daring Splash of ‘Flamingo Blue’ to Its Iconic Black Bay Chrono Lineup
Swiss watchmaker Tudor has just released what’s undoubtedly a fun deviation from its usual designs, a 41mm Black Bay Chronograph with a distinct ‘Flamingo Blue’ dial.
You’re probably thinking, “flamingos aren’t blue!!!!!??”, and you’d be correct. Tudor knows that as well. But according to the watchmaker, if you were to describe ‘Flamingo Blue’ to someone, it would probably be the colour you see in the dial of their new watch (basically, the colour of the tropical waters that flamingos frequent). I guess you can’t really argue with that.
Sunny beach vibes on your wrist
Born to stand out, this ‘Flamingo Blue’ Black Bay Chronograph is a watch for those who dare to be different. It’s fitting, considering the fact that Tudor is marketing it as part of its ‘Daring Watches‘ lineup, which also features a pastel pink dial Black Bay Chronograph, as well as a slick deep blue dial variant with a black ceramic case.
But if this writer had to pick between the three, the ‘Flamingo Blue’ takes the cake.
Aside from a unique turquoise dial, this Black Bay Chronograph is exactly what you’d expect from a Tudor timepiece. The watch features contrasting sub-counters, as well as a high-performance automatic Manufacture Calibre, with column-wheel construction and vertical clutch.
It’s also got a healthy 70-hour power reserve when fully wound, which means you can go almost three full days without having to worry about losing your time. Naturally, if you don’t take the watch off your wrist at all during this time period, it’ll keep on going—unless you stay absolutely still for more than 70 hours. And if that were the case, please call an ambulance.
Jokes aside, the ‘Flamingo Blue’ Tudor Black Bay Chronograph is just as much a Tudor as any other watch in the brand’s lineup, despite the unique colour departing from the norm. Plus, doesn’t it just make you want to head out to the beach?
Rounding things off is a five-link steel bracelet featuring Tudor’s iconic T-Fit clasp, which allows you to adjust the bracelet’s fit on the go—without having to fuss about with any special tools.
This is pretty useful if you find yourself going back and fourth between cold and hot environments—like a freezing Malaysian office and our blistering tropical heat outdoors. Our wrists tend to expand in heat, and go back to their usual size in the cold. With Tudor’s T-Fit clasp, you won’t need to worry about your watch being too snug when under our Malaysian sun.
