Tropfest SEA Announces Top 16 Finalists

The finalists for this year’s Tropfest SEA is finally revealed. The list sees filmmakers representing their respective countries with their short films that feature the Tropfest Signature Item (TSI): The wheel. This year, Cambodia and The Philippines lead the contest with five entries each, Malaysia follow closely behind with four entries, while Singapore and Vietnam both have one film selected for the running in attaining the festival trophy and the grand prize of USD12,000 from Yayasan Sime Darby. The final live judging will take place on festival day Sunday 1 February and the director of the winning seven-minute short film will additionally win a trip to the festival’s motherland,  Los Angeles, for an industry immersion trip. Besides having their films selected for screening at Tropfest SEA, the lucky finalists will also be awarded a USD500 cash prize as well as have their flight and some of their festival costs sponsored.
