For an eatery to survive the fickle tastes of KL diners and at 8 years be expanding their reach into new territories – well, it has to be doing something right. So successful was the formula tested on the Bangsar Baru crowd that The Social owners and power couple Thai born Ekachai Urairat and his Malaysian wife Mei Li Tan saw fit to enter into the competitive Changkat Bukit Bintang stretch. Having managed a chain of 9 Malaysian-Thai restaurants in London, their Malaysian takeover seems iminnent. The Social is already the the default location for urbanites seeking a mid-priced good food in a relaxed ambience in which to shoot the breeze or indeed some pool. The 2-storey Changkat Bukit Bintang location looks to do the same.
