The Movemint 2nd Anniversary Jam

Thirsty for JUICE content? Quench your cravings on our Instagram, TikTok and WhatsApp

The people behind events like Think You Got Skillz? and The Beat Meet have really made their mark at the forefront of hip hop events in KL. The Movemint turn 2 this month and they are throwing you a dope party, so mark 8 May on your calendars and make a date with the best hip hop acts at Envy.

To celebrate The Movemint’s 2nd Anniversary, expect massive hip hop love from the best of our local artists, DJs and more! It’s also the official launch of newcomer and double AVIMA nominee Nadhira’s From Malaysia With Love EP. She gives us a live set before she and The Movemint founder and MC Vandal leave for their Canadian tour.

On the main stage, catch Vandal, Kraft, Micah and King Lhota rocking the mics while DJ Ideaz and The Silk Road burn up the decks holding down the freshest hip hop, rnb and funk choons, while Loi and Kim Sng heat up the beatbox.

It’s not a Movemint party without a rap battle so tonight, the 1st International Rap Battle takes place with the TYGS All-Stars and Supafriends Team SG taking the spotlight. Fronting The Beat Meet, OCB aka SonaOne and Tatsuro showcase their wicked beats followed by a freestyle demo by MC Stiff and Vandal himself. In keeping with the spirit of hip hop, there’s also a b-boy demo, live graffiti, and an awards and appreciation ceremony as well. You’re guaranteed to experience hip hop like you’ve never before, so you don’t want to miss this movement.

Double Take: Vandal on turning 2

What does hitting 2 mean to you?
Hitting 2 is proof that all the energy and effort put into making and building The Movemint is paying off. Our concepts have evolved but our goals remain focused on the hip hop community here in Malaysia, regionally and spreading the message of hip hop culture to the youth.

What have been some of the landmark achievements for The Movemint?
The release of the TYGS Compilation was definitely a milestone. Being able to bring hip hop out of the small room and into the club with the success of KL Slam Jam at Maison recently is setting the stage for bigger things to come. Also giving a platform to upcoming artists through the events we had at Cloth & Clef contributed to the growth of the local scene.

What does The Movemint hope to achieve next?
Recently we have been focused on developing talent, with the likes of Nadhira and Micah. It’s important for us to evolve from more than just doing events to working with and helping artists. We also look forward to the growth of our blog to become a permanent home of quality music on an international level. 2010 will be a big year for us!
