If the Creator were a Robot, the primordial mechanical world would be populated by creatures envisioned by artist Masato Tanaka. His work is currently on exhibit at the Galeri Petronas’ Tokitsumugi exhibition, brought in collaboration with The Japan Foundation.

A collection of 15 of his kinetic sculptures, Tokitsumugi gave us the impression of the workshop of some clockwork inventor-artist of futuristic inclination-a sort of science fiction Leonardo da Vinci. Constructed out of steel, motor magnets, feathers and magnifying glasses, these pieces harness external forces for their movement and employ shadows to accentuate their delicate intricacy.

Check out the videos for a preview of how these things work, but do check out the exhibition for yourself before it ends on 13 May at Galeri Petronas.
