The BMW Shorties is Back!

This coming September marks the fifth year BMW Shorties will be held. Regarded as Malaysia’s premier short film competition, it has been hailed to make a difference. The competition is a cultural initiative by BMW Group Malaysia to identify, cultivate and support talents from the Malaysian society.

Since its introduction in 2006, 220 short films had entered the competition – giving hundreds of Malaysians the opportunity to pursue their dreams. Winners of past Shorties have had their short films premiered at prestigious events in New York, Oberhausen and Dubai.

For the future Steven Spielbergs, entry detail for BMW 2011 will be made available from 8 September 2011. For recaps on previous BMW Shorties, head to www.bmwshorties.com.my.

Below is the winning entry for BMW Shorties 2010 titled ‘Like Toy Dolls’ by Chen Yih Wen. Aside from winning RM75,000 production grant, her short film also grabbed the Best Cinematography and Best Production Design awards.
