The Best of 2011

What is there not to love about Malaysia’s very own highstreet label? Not content with being just a ready-to-wear label inspired by the latest trends, Chic Yamada champions the environment too! No wonder you JUICE fans voted for them! The first ever Chic Yamada store has just recently opened at Bangsar Village II as well, looks like it’s been a good 2011 for them. Kudos!

There hasn’t been a local streetwear label that has spread like wildfire quite like The Swagger Salon. Out of nowhere their Lansi caps have been spotted on heads all across Malaysia. It’s time to take their lansi to the next level, winning this category has been well deserved. We can’t wait to see The Swagger Salon take Lansi to another level in 2012.

It’s a no brainer why Stussy KL Chapter won by a milestone. Their beautifully simple designed low key store in the heart of Pudu is a favourite among our local streetwear community and deservedly so for making limited and special edition Stussy collabos available to us.

There are a couple of reasons why Fat Spoon is the perfect hangout spot. It offers a good facsimile of what grandma would cook back home in a comfy venue that doesn’t look too restaurant-like. Then there’s the owner herself, Chelle, whom we have a little crush on. With massive difference in number of votes, we wager our readers might feel the same way too.

MOST OVERUSED WORD
SWAG
The exact point when swag becomes a ubiquitous word in hip hop vernacular is still a mystery, although we suspect this is either Lil B’s or Soulja Boy’s fault. Regardless, much like dope and ill, the word swag has penetrated pop culture consciousness and went beyond its hip hop roots. Swag.
