Proving that they’re the funkiest band this side of the southern hemisphere, The Bamboos’ latest LP contains danceable instrumentals, meshing soul, funk and hip hop to a feverish peak. Kylie Auldist delivers a powerful vocal punch ala Aretha Franklin and the band is as tight as ever. Attempts to mix world music into their sound pay off as well like on ‘Up On The Hill’ which combines Indian raga-sitar twackin with a trance-y atmosphere.
