Muar MP Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman is marking a new chapter after his Federal Court acquittal with a 170km thanksgiving run from the Palace of Justice in Putrajaya to Muar.
He announced the run on the latest episode of BASScast, the podcast he co-hosts with his fiancée, Bella Astillah.
The journey will begin after the Dewan Rakyat sitting ends on 16 July, with Syed Saddiq expected to arrive in Muar on Sunday, 19 July.
He said the run is his way of thanking Muar voters for standing by him throughout his six-year legal battle.

“A week before the 2022 General Election, I was going back and forth to court. Most candidates would’ve struggled under those circumstances.
“But the people of Muar still believed in me and gave me another chance. God willing, next year marks 10 years of serving them, and I’ll always be grateful for their support,” he said.
Syed Saddiq added that he chose the Palace of Justice as the starting point to pay tribute to the judiciary, which he described as the people’s final pillar of justice.
The run will also double as a fundraiser for the Muar community. Through brand collaborations and an online donation drive, he hopes to raise RM200,000 to provide iPads for university students in need and food baskets for underprivileged families.
On top of that, he pledged RM500,000 in scholarships as part of his efforts to give back to the people of Muar.
Meanwhile, Bella said she’ll be joining him throughout the journey, likely by bicycle or motorcycle, to support him along the way.
