In April, a new hip hop weekly took place at one of the most chic nightspots in town. The good people of Oscar Wise conceptualised Swagger based on the distinguished style that is Sultan Lounge.The name was inspired by rapper TI’s song ‘Swagger Like Us’ and how “swagger” is used as street slang for those who present themselves with a certain style and cool factor. Besides resident DJs Funkzu and Monkey, and MC Terry T on the mic bringing you mad heat on the regular, Swagger‘s aim to build a platform for budding hip hop and rnb artists also sees the night bringing in the occasional local and international guest act-Jakarta hip hoppers D’Makaveli have already been seen slammin’ it onstage. Hip hop doesn’t have to be rowdy; keep it cool and get your swag on at Swagger for a good time.
