Stussy KL Pres. Homeboy Sandman (US/Stones Throw)

Homeboy Sandman has an exceptionally colourful résumé as he’s had a working experience as a bartender in the legendary Lennox Lounge, a few academic stints in New Hampshire, Philadelphia, London, and Long Island, and had his writings published in The Huffington Post as well as Gawker. However, as y’all hip hop heads know, his longest commitment has been to music. Signed to seminal hip hop label Stones Throw Records, whose roster includes luminaries like Madlib, MF Doom, the late Dilla, and Dâm-Funk to name a few, it’s only natural that the man has received accolades that saw Rolling Stones noting that he’s got “[a] skill for wordplay that keeps you hooked” and Pitchfork matter-of-factly stating that he’s “one of the best pure lyricists around.” Now, in support of new album Kindness for Weakness, he’s made plans to tour around this side of the world, which prompted Raising the Bar and Stussy KL to collaborate once again for another international act-headlined hip hop gig (Heems being the first). The responsibility for building the momentum to the wordsmith’s set is awarded to uber-knowledgeable DJ Xes Xes Loveseat and superduo Home Court. The only setback is, Playspace is only able to accommodate 150 people at one time, so tickets will be limited. Presale is priced at RM65, which can be purchased here. Tickets are also available at the door, though those are priced at RM80. Save yourself RM15 and buy it now!
