Move over Kevin Smith, there’s a new guerrilla filmmaker in town! In fact, he’s so underground that he comes from Banting of all places. Meet Kevin Koh, aspiring director, producer, writer and main actor of his own webseries Sunny Day in Notorious BTG.
BTG being gangsta slang for Banting, the webseries follows Kevin as he searches for the meaning of life in his sleepy hometown. JUICE spoke to the young auteur on his character and this is what he had to say: “My sh*t deliberately contains a lot of hip hop sensibilities. I use a lot of street slang because my character is this ah beng gangsta wannabe from Banting.” Right….
With his lo-fi methods (lo-tech cameras and shooting illegally on-location), the webseries was made on a shoestring budget, using actors and actresses that Kevin found on the streets of Banting.
