Sondre Lerche: Heartbreak Radio (Rounder)
Sondre Lerche could easily be mistaken for the sensitive type since his past works include chamber pop, late-night jazz and punky new wave albums, and a particular Dan in Real Life soundtrack. On his 5th studio album, the Norwegian singer-songwriter combines his sharp pop sensibilities with his knowledge of classical string arrangements. Singing “I cannot let you go” over and over again on the track of the same title might spell disaster for most musicians, but Sondre has the charm of an early Elvis Costello to boot his honesty. Ladies and lonely guys with cats will love this.
