Local Man Arrested By Sibu Police For Throwing A Molotov Cocktail Towards The Entrance Of A Bank
Do you enjoy cocktails? You know, those fancily-named colourful drinks that can lead to either a great or horrendous night depending on your intake.
Yeah this ain’t about those kind of cocktails.
Yesterday (Feb 9), Sibu police apprehended a man who was caught on video hurling a Molotov cocktail towards the door of a bank at Jalan Kampung Nyabor.
According to The Borneo Post, Sibu ACP Zulkipli Suhaili stated that local police had received reports regarding a small fire which broke out at a bank’s entrance sometime around 9.40pm.
According to ACP Zulkipli, “The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) personnel who went to the scene found fragments of glass bottles and cloth believed to be used to commit the act.”
He also revealed that a 36-year old suspect believed to be the perpetrator had been detained around 10.56pm of the same day.
As of right now, Sibu police have requested a remand order for the suspect as a means of helping their investigation which is currently being investigated under Section 435 of the Penal Code.
While the suspect’s motive for throwing the Molotov remains unclear, it was revealed that he already had a number of past criminal records under his belt.
Was this a big FU to capitalism, a beef with a bank worker or just a random act of arson committed out of boredom? Only time will tell.
