Opinionated blogger (isn’t that an oxymoron?) JuneWow and community-centered NGO LoyarBurok are putting the “fun” back in fundraiser! Expect sushi, Asahi beer lucky draws, sumo wrestling, music performances by indie artists, and a traditional Japanese and cosplay fashion show at this photo exhibition-cum-fundraiser this Sunday.

Sending Love To Sendai is a unique exhibition featuring works by photojournalist Colin Boyd Shafer of pre-tsunami Japan. Prints will be available for sale and all proceeds will go to the Japanese Red Cross Society. The event will be hosted by Miss World Malaysia 2010 – Nadia Heng and features a kicka$$ lineup including: Reza Salleh, Azmyl Yunor, The Rollin’ Sixers, Ben’s Bitches, Cats In Love and Tom Jones (really?).

Send a postcard or record a video message for the people of Japan (in their own language with the help of translators), go old skool with vintage video games (Micro Genius and cartridges), learn to fold origami cranes and watch traditional and cosplay costumes modelled by scenesters at this event. Lucky draw prizes include Asahi Beer and bottles of Sake! Kampai!

Sending Love To Sendai goes down this Sunday 15 May at Pusat Rakyat Loyar Burok, 3-4, 4th Floor, Jalan Bangsar Utama 3, Bangsar Utama, KL. 5-11pm or come at 4 if you want to sumo wrestle more!
