So everybody around you now either rock Nike’s or New Balance’s, and adidas will be inevitably hyped in the coming months as well, especially with the Yeezy x adidas collaboration to be released soon.  But sometimes instead of conforming to trends, it’s cool to be understated and laid back. Saucony is one of those brands that have enjoyed a slow comeback into streetwear as of late. While the brand itself was largely popular in the States back in the ‘70s, Saucony is still kind of unknown to most. This is why you should most definitely check out Saucony Originals’ Shadow and Jazz. Both being Saucony’s most popular sneakers to have treaded the streets, the timeless design and silhouette of the sneakers are not so flashy that it’ll scare the normcore kids away but still dope as hell for sneaker freakers.

Most dudes would definitely be getting the Saucony Shadow (like, can you think of a cooler name for your sneaker?). The shoe features a padded collar and tongue for comfort as well as their trademark EVA midsole cushions (did you know that Saucony was the first sneaker brand to have an EVA dual density midsole in order to stop pronation so that the sneaker have some rigidity in the instep?). The retro style of the shoe, with its suede overlays, keeps these Shadows looking as classic as possible and fly as hell when paired with a pair of crispy denim or sleek pants.

Next is the Saucony Jazz, which is arguably the most popular of Saucony’s sneakers.  While sneaker heads might clam behind the Shadow 6000s (cross fingers that they bring ‘em in), the Jazz is still ultimately the sneaker Saucony is known for. Featured in many early collaborations with sneaker boutiques around the world, they’re a must have if you’re going to get into the Saucony game.  The Jazz features a lace-up front with padded collar and tongue whilst sporting nylon/suede uppers for long wear. The structure and silhouette of the shoe is much more streamlined and sleeker compared to the Shadows, making for a better fit for those sporting the skinny jeans or leggings/sweatpants look.

The Saucony Originals are retailing at RM229 for Jazz and RM299 for Shadow. Available at Sole What Gardens, Sole What One Utama, and Sole What e-store at www.solewhat.com.
