Best Local Live Show: The Battle Protocol with SevenCollar T-Shirt @ KLPac

This show definitely raised the bar for local live concerts. SevenCollar T-Shirt were at their finest, roping in guest sessionists (including a string orchestra) and singer-songwriter Yuna to make for one eclectic show. Delivering a 19-song set in chronological order, which was divided into 4 acts, kudos should really be given to The Great Battle as a concept-from the concept album to a concept show.

Best Resident Night: Spinology @ Sultan Lounge

Every Friday, Sultan Lounge is graced with the heat of funk and soul-infused disco from resident DJs Gregroire Pagnoux and Dean Richards. An initiative by event organiser Oscar Wise, it’s the only night in the city that allows for that cliché term, “Play that funky music, white boy!”

Best New Resident Night: Neubeats @ Mist

Neubeats took partying to another level with its amalgamation of new sounds, styles, acts and party people. Get with Goldilocks and Miss Eva T’s big music anthems every Thursday night for some wicked fun! RIP Neubeats, you were short-lived, but we loved you nonetheless.

Best Event Series: Heineken Green Space

Propose a cool event idea and Heineken will help you throw a brilliant party, at no cost to you. The result? Movers and shakers like Twilight Actiongirl, Aubergine, Car Crash Hearts, Wheel Love and The Breakfast Club throwing bespoke events that have motivated us to dress up and go out this year

Best Outdoor Event: Urbanscapes 2010 @ KLPac

From its humble beginnings in 2002, Urbanscapes has grown into perhaps the country’s biggest annual creative arts festival. Presenting the best of music, fashion and the arts under one umbrella event, and featuring some of Malaysia’s most talented movements, the festival has become a milestone and much-talked about event for the youth to meet, network, shop and experience a whole day of fun.

Check out yesterday’s part 2 here. Stay tuned tomorrow for the final installment of this years best of!
